Had to mention this. I’m usually fairly staunchly against DJ culture, and you wont see much of it on this blog (traditionally I’ve considered sampling other peoples songs a far less creative effort than writing your own) but I have to eat my words with this one… The creativity here is astounding.
Kutiman grabs every interesting musical sound he can find from youtube, and weaves them into 7 intricate, funky, original songs. My song picks are Someday, and Wait for Me, mostly because of the vocal parts.
The fact that the videos act as a credit reel for all the contributers is what sets this apart from most sample based music for me.
